Electric Storage Heaters

Electric storage heaters use electricity to heat your home by storing it. They generate the heat during the night for a few hours when electricity is cheaper and then store it in banks of clay or ceramic bricks to be released during the following day. Most storage heaters will have a input setting to control how much it generates and stores during the night. This is useful because while the electricity is cheaper at night, there’s no point paying for it if you don’t need it. For example, if you are going to out of the property for most of the following day, you can set it to store less heat as it will not be needed. Most also have an output setting to control how much is released during the day. Many also have a boost option, meaning if there isn’t enough heat stored in the heater, you can use daytime electricity rates to heat your home if needed. Most also have programmers so you can preset when the heat should be released during the day.

High Heat Retention (HHR) Storage Heaters

High heat retention storage heaters work in the same way as standard storage heaters, but they are a lot more efficient. HHR storage heaters are up to 27% cheaper to run! These models of storage heaters are usually equipped with the latest heating control technology. Many of them have the capability to estimate the heating demand for the following day based on user habits and by looking at climate conditions. For example, if you are usually out all day on a Friday and the weather is going to be hot they won’t store much heat at all for Friday as it will not be needed.

What properties can this be carried out on?

Electric Storage Heaters can be fitted to any property that currently uses electric heating. They don’t take up much space, similar to a radiator but slightly larger. There is no central unit needed to be installed anywhere, all the work is inside each heater.

What is the cost to install?

The cost of installing this kind of heating system, is dependent on the number and size the heaters required to appropriately heat the property. This will be calculated by our specialist team, who run a series of heat calculations according to the dimensions of your property. Our installers will always offer the most competitive price possible. We also work with various funding streams that you may be eligible for to get measures installed with full or partial funding!
