Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)

2/3’s Funded!

What is the Great British Insulation Scheme?

The objective of the Great British Insulation Scheme is to swiftly deliver a high volume of energy efficiency measures to a greater number of households than other ECO schemes. To achieve this, the scheme will prioritise providing single, low-cost insulation measures, rather than a number of more expensive measures.  Heating controls will also be available as secondary measures for eligible low-income households. This scheme will not include any heat generating measures.

The Great British Insulation Scheme primarily offers single insulation measures, which are crucial for reducing energy costs. Insulation works by preventing heat loss through roofs, walls, and floors. This retained heat reduces the runtime and required temperature of heating systems, as the warmth stays within the property.

How do I qualify for the Great British Insulation Scheme?

The Great British Insulation Scheme provides support to two main groups: a broader group and a low-income group. The scheme is primarily focused on owner-occupied homes, but social housing and privately rented properties may also be eligible for support.

The broader group encompasses all homes within council tax bands A-D in England, A-E in Wales, and A-E in Scotland.

The low-income group includes those who meet the ECO4 scheme’s requirements.
