Cavity Wall Insulation
What is it?
Cavity wall insulation involves filling cavity walls with an insulation material that reduces the amount of heat lost within a property. The external walls of a property are drilled into, and a material is then blown/pumped into the cavity. The insulation has a very low thermal conductivity. It also has a closed-cell technology, meaning that moisture is not absorbed and thus works to the best of its insulating ability.
Cavity wall insulation does not require any aftercare.
GBIS funding
Funding for various insulation measures is available under the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS). Head over to our GBIS page for more information.
What properties can this be carried out on?
How does it work?
- Firstly, small holes are drilled into the cavity wall from either the internal or external of the property
- Following this, a mixture of the insulation material, usually specialised insulation beads, and a bonding agent are pumped/blown into the wall using a bespoke device
- Finally, once all the cavity wall is insulated, the drill holes are fully sealed
What is the cost of this work?
The cost of cavity wall insulation varies from home to home, as it is dependent on the size and the type of dwelling.
For example, a detached house would have more cavity to fill, in comparison to a mid-terrace dwelling.
All of our installers offer very competitive prices for this kind of insulation and come with a 25 year guarantee.
We do work with various funding streams that could partially or completely cover the cost of energy efficiency measures should you be eligible!
